Public technical guidance

This page is selection and sequencing guidance, not a project method statement. The current product TDS, approved design, site assessment and trial application take precedence; structural anchors, cracks, water-retaining structures and other safety-critical work require qualified technical review.

Applicable for

  • Swimming pools and water tanks
  • Floors, walls and basements under frequent moisture exposure
  • Gutters, rooftops and balconies
  • Wet-area floors and walls before finishes

Substrate requirements

  • The surface must be clean before application, free of dust, mud, grease, moss, and mold
  • Patch voids and treat cracks with compatible repair materials
  • Saturate the substrate with clean water and remove all standing water before coating

Step-by-step procedure

  1. 1

    Prepare the surface

Remove flashing burrs and any loosely bonded patches; patch voids (if any) with a dedicated repair mortar.

  2. 2

    Clean the surface

Clean the whole surface and saturate it with clean water; before coating it must be saturated-surface-dry with no standing water.

  3. 3

    Mix the material

Pour component A into a clean container and slowly add component B while mixing at 300–400 rpm; mix for at least 5 minutes until uniform. The A:B ratio is 1:3 by weight; do not add water.

  4. 4

    Apply the first coat

Apply BestSeal AC407 Premier to the saturated-surface-dry substrate with a short-bristle brush or suitable spray equipment at 1.0 – 2.0 kg/m² without exceeding the permitted thickness per coat.

  5. 5

Apply the second coat and cure

Once the first coat is dry, normally after 1–2 hours depending on weather and ventilation, apply the second coat perpendicular to it at 1.0 – 2.0 kg/m². Moist-cure cement-based material in sun or wind and complete the approved watertightness test before finishes.

Total consumption

BestSeal AC407 Premier at 1.0 – 2.0 kg/m² per coat, at least 2 coats; indicative total 2.0 – 4.0 kg/m² depending on required thickness and substrate condition.

Common questions

Which product should I use to waterproof water tanks and pools?

The current TDS explicitly lists BestSeal AC407 Premier for pools and tanks. Final selection also depends on water type, pressure, finishes and project hygiene requirements.

What is the BestSeal AC407 Premier consumption for tanks and pools?

1.0 – 2.0 kg/m² per coat with at least 2 coats. The indicative total is 2.0 – 4.0 kg/m²; design thickness and substrate condition determine actual consumption.

How long after application can the structure hold water?

There is no single timing for every tank. Fill only after curing under the TDS, completion of protective finishes and successful watertightness testing under the approved project documents.
