Application instruction
SURFACE PREPARATION
The designed concrete must have technical properties suitable for the intended use. During concreting, poker vibration and surface leveling must be carried out in accordance with the requirements.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Application:
HardRock 345 should be applied by hand in two layers. Typically, about 2/3 of the HardRock 345 quantity is used for the first layer, and the remaining quantity for the second layer.
As soon as the bleed water on the concrete surface begins to dry and the concrete reaches a plastic state (before setting begins), carry out a preliminary floating to level the surface and to minimize the cement mortar from contaminating the HardRock 345 surface later.
After the preliminary floating is complete, continue spreading the first layer evenly onto the concrete surface. Wait until HardRock 345 has absorbed sufficient moisture from the concrete, becomes darker in color, and the concrete reaches the required firm-plastic consistency without deep indentation; then use a low-speed power trowel with the blades set at a minimum tilt to press the HardRock 345 powder onto the concrete surface until a uniform wet mortar layer appears on the surface. HardRock 345 should be applied first in fast-drying areas such as column bases, wall bases, doorways, windows, etc.
Continue spreading the second layer immediately after floating the previous layer. However, areas that were under-covered in the first layer must be made up to ensure the surface is fully covered and uniform in color. Floating is carried out as for the first layer; however, the rotation speed and blade tilt must be adjusted accordingly.
Polishing:
When a high gloss is required, increase the blade tilt appropriately and float at a higher rotation speed.
The color uniformity, gloss, and mechanical properties of the product depend greatly on the application process. Following the correct procedure yields the best results.
Curing: Immediately after application, curing must be carried out to prevent early water loss that leads to surface cracking. The BestCure product should be used for curing to prevent cracking and surface staining, especially for colored HardRock 345.
Note:
Properties of the concrete constituents, such as water content and cement quality, may cause slight color variations.
HardRock 345 will produce a finished surface for the concrete in which some areas may differ in color across the entire applied floor. This is due to the natural variation of the concrete and the product consumption rate.
