BestSeal AC401

BestSeal AC401

Waterproofing, cement-polymer compound, One component

Advantages:

  • Pre-mixed, one component, easy to use.

  • High water resistance and long-lasting durability over time.

  • No cracking or peeling under the material's thermal movement.

  • Bonds well with all silicate-based surfaces (including damp surfaces).

  • Allows the surface to release water vapor, so no hydrostatic pressure builds up.

  • Water-resistant, abrasion-resistant, weather-resistant, anti-aging and resistant to seawater attack.

  • Non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

  • Does not pollute domestic water sources on direct contact.

Waterproofing, cement-polymer compound, One component

BestSeal AC401 is a one-component, inorganic mineral-based waterproofing compound with deep crystalline penetration, high water resistance, good bonding, no peeling and no cracking during service. BestSeal AC401 is made from portland cement, dedicated polymers combined with silicate minerals and other premium additives. BestSeal AC401 bonds and adheres strongly to all silicate-based material surfaces such as masonry, render, gypsum and concrete, etc.

Application instruction

Surface preparation:

  • The surface to be waterproofed must be dense and crack-free; impurities, debris, oil/grease and dust, etc. must be cleaned as required. Surface material layers with poor adhesion or no strength must be completely chipped off and treated properly before applying BestSeal AC401.

  • Dampen the surface before application.

  • If the surface has cracks wider than 0.5 mm, they must be pre-treated by chasing out to at least 10 mm wide with a minimum depth of 1.5 times the chase width. The chase cross-section is U-shaped. Use compressed air or a high-pressure water jet to clean the chase surface of dust and burrs, etc. before using a suitable BestRepair to fill the chase.

  • If the surface has continuous running water leakage, drill out the leak hole to a minimum depth of 2.5 times the hole diameter and plug the leaking water flow with BestSeal CE201 before applying BestSeal AC401.

Wet application method:

  • Mixing ratio: BestSeal AC401 : clean water = 3 : 1 (by weight).

  • BestSeal AC401 is mixed with clean water at the correct ratio using a mixer at 300 - 400 rpm. Add BestSeal AC401 into the pre-measured water, gradually adding the powder while mixing until the mixture is homogeneous and lump-free. Let the material stand for about 03 minutes and re-mix before use. The minimum mixing time is 05 minutes but may be longer until the required homogeneity is achieved.

  • Use a stiff-bristle brush or high-pressure spray gun to firmly apply the mixed material onto the surface to be waterproofed, one coat at a time (each coat no thicker than 1 mm). The minimum wait time before the next coat is 120 minutes.

  • The working time of the mixture is 60 minutes from mixing.

Notes:

  • Dampen the surface but leave no standing puddles before application. The previous coat must be dampened with clean water before applying the next coat.

  • If applying in sunny and windy conditions, strictly follow moisture-curing requirements like other cement-based products once the material surface begins to dry.

  • At least two coats of BestSeal AC401 must be applied to waterproof the surface.

  • Do not use any mixture that has exceeded its working time and started to cure.

Dry-shake method for new concrete and subsequently poured concrete:

  • Sprinkle dry BestSeal AC401 powder directly onto freshly poured concrete (after about 120 - 180 minutes) and use a power float to smooth the waterproofing surface; or sprinkle onto the contact surface of the blinding concrete before pouring fresh concrete.

  • Sprinkle evenly in 2 passes perpendicular to each other to ensure a uniform coating.

Cleaning:

  • Use water to clean tools and equipment immediately after application and before the mixture starts to cure. Once the mixture has cured, use suitable mechanical means to clean the tools.

Safety guidance:

  • BestSeal AC401 may cause irritation to sensitive skin on prolonged contact. Wear a mask, gloves and safety goggles when using the product.

  • If splashed into the eyes, nose or mouth, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water several times before going to the nearest medical facility for timely and proper treatment.

  • Dispose of excess product at locations designated by local regulations.
